Mobile only users surpass pc only users

In March 2015, ComScore reported that “the number of mobile-only adult internet users exceeded the number of desktop-only internet users” for the internet population in the US, for the first time.

The firm said that a year ago there were nearly twice as many desktop-only users vs. mobile-only internet users. One of the major reasons the positions have flipped is because “the desktop-only population has drastically declined,” says comScore.

This is consistent with the overall decline in PC sales, which are off globally. Both Gartner and IDC agree that PC sales globally declined by at least 5 percent in Q1.

Facebook announces "Boost Your Business" tour and live chat support for advertisers.

Facebook continues to roll out the red carpet for small businesses. And they continue to create Facebook Pages.

Today, the social network announced that 40 million SMBs have active Facebook Pages. That’s up from the 30 million Facebook said it had last June. To support those businesses Facebook will host a series of “Boost Your Business” events in the coming months. Facebook is also rolling out live chat support for advertisers in the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland (with plans to add it in more countries later this year).

So you’ve made a start with marketing through Youtube – great!  Now here are a few things you could try to improve your results.

 

Think outside the box

Sure, you have a message you want to convey, but the viewers want videos that will entertain them.  Try thinking laterally about a video that doesn’t appear to be linked to your product or service, but ultimately conveys the right message.  For example if there’s a new product being launched, think of a funny or engaging video about excitement.  Hook the viewers in, then offer more info or your call to action at the end.  Be careful of over-using this tactic though, or making it so obscure that the viewers don’t understand what they’ve watched.

Well folks, it was fun while it lasted, but Facebook has decided to take down the like gates. Sources includingAllFacebook.com indicate that starting in November, users can no longer be forced to like a page before seeing its content or entering a promotion. While the announcement may be painful to some, it shouldn’t be a surprise: like gates have been decreasing in popularity for some time now. The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows almost half of businesses have a website or web presence, and just over one quarter are active on social media such as Facebook and Twitter.

But larger companies are outperforming smaller ones in both areas.
