How To Manage Multiple Social Platforms
Looking after a range of social media pages for your business needn’t be a juggle. There are various scheduling platforms that operate like a dashboard, enabling you to monitor all your accounts from one place. Hootsuite is arguably the most popular, so we’ll have a look at how it works.
Hootsuite is free for up to three properties, or you can upgrade to a plan to add up to 50 properties for $9.99 per month. But you can certainly get plenty out of the free plan. If you have more than three properties, perhaps you could choose your “top three” to monitor through Hootsuite. For example if Google+ doesn’t bring you many leads, leave it off to check it separately. Or, if you frequently publish to Instagram you might prefer to keep it separate, since you can’t publish directly to Instagram through Hootsuite. (You can create the post in Hootsuite, you just need to go to your device to finish it off. Hootsuite can even send a notification to the device.) Twitter is really compatible with Hootsuite because it’s easy to create lists, do searches, monitor private messages, schedule posts etc. Hootsuite is also great for keeping across everything that’s happening on Facebook Pages and Groups.
Once you’ve chosen your three properties to monitor through Hootsuite, you can create a Priority tab. This will bring together the information that is most important to you, from all the accounts, in one tab. This might include private messages, mentions, discussions from groups, posts to your page, and even updates from important people you follow on Twitter.
You can also create a tab for Brand mentions, to let you know every time you get mentioned - even if it’s name only, without your Twitter or Instagram handle.
Hootsuite allows you to keep up to date with Facebook pages in your industry. They needn’t be your competitors, but they may target the same sort of customer base. You could even monitor current and potential customers. You’ll get notified when they post an update, so you can interact promptly.
Another big Hootsuite perk is the Free Apps, such as Reddit and Youtube. You can use a stream to keep an eye on a certain subreddit, or see how the views are going on your latest Youtube video. Click on “Add Stream” then click on “Apps” to see a list of app options. You can also Search if you don’t find what you’re after – there’s a huge list of paid and free apps available, with reviews so you can check whether they’re legit.
So you can see, Hootsuite is handy for keeping track of various social media accounts all in one place, and small to medium sized businesses may even be able to do it all for free. Why not log on and have a look around – there’s nothing to lose, and plenty of mentions and engagement to gain.
